Putin Accuses Turkey Of Backing ISIS After It Downs Russian Warplane In Syria

ISTANBUL — Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Turkey on Tuesday of directly supporting the so-called Islamic State after Turkish forces shot down one of Russia’s fighter jets near Syria’s border.
“Our military men are fighting terrorism, sacrificing their own lives, but today’s loss is  a stab in the back by the accomplices of terrorism,” Putin said of Turkey, alleging that Ankara directly finances terrorism through illicit oil sales.
A Russian marine was killed during a search-and-rescue mission for the pilots of the downed jet, Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a briefing Tuesday. One of the helicopters being used to carry out the mission was fired on and had to make an emergency landing.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Syrian rebel fighters brought down the Russian helicopter with a missile.
It sounds like Putin is building a case for War.

Erdogan's Dirty Dangerous ISIS Games
In October 2014 US Vice President Joe Biden told a Harvard gathering that Erdoğan’s regime was backing ISIS with “hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of tons of weapons…” Biden later apologized clearly for tactical reasons to get Erdoğan’s permission to use Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base for airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, but the dimensions of Erdoğan’s backing for ISIS since revealed is far, far more than Biden hinted.

ISIS militants were trained by US, Israeli and now it emerges, by Turkish special forces at secret bases in Konya Province inside the Turkish border to Syria, over the past three years. Erdoğan’s involvement in ISIS goes much deeper. At a time when Washington, Saudi Arabia and even Qatar appear to have cut off their support for ISIS, they remaining amazingly durable. The reason appears to be the scale of the backing from Erdoğan and his fellow neo-Ottoman Sunni Islam Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu.

This is not the first time I've heard that Israel prefers ISIS to Assad. If true, I have no idea why that would be.

Any ideas?

I don't really understand any of this either.

I just think that, if there was the will, we could end ISIS' reign.

And that makes me think there is complicity.

Additionally, I tend to believe what Putin was hinting at in that Press Conference, when he started asking questions like, "Who is funding ISIS?" When the leader of a superpower stands up and starts posing such questions on the international stage, his position is something like that of a whistleblower. It does not make him look good. It makes him look like he is trying to communicate something that he does not have the power to come right out and say in plain words.

This means he is feeling somewhat beleagured, even perhaps desperate.

That is not a pose Putin wants to portray.

He has done it well, however.

New Eastern Outlook is Russian propaganda. Just because I like what Putin is doing against ISIS doesn't mean I'm going to believe everything that comes out of his puppets' mouths.

Israel has nothing to do with ISIS. They're not idiots there. They wouldn't fund/train a crazy Muslim force right on their borders. For them Assad is better than ISIS any day of the week. They know what Assad can do, ISIS is unpredictable. Israel does not have a death wish.

The article quoted in the first comment is pure BS when it says Israel prefers ISIS. People who claim that Israel is training/funding ISIS are the same people who refuse to believe that ISIS happened because of Islam. They insist that it is the US/Israel/Global Warming/Martians. Anything but Islam.

In short, I don't buy this BS about Israel. As for Turkey, its no secret that Turkey's been funding and helping ISIS because they're fighting the Kurds.

"It sounds like Putin is building a case for War."

So far what I've seen from Putin is that he's been taking calculated risks. Georgia, Ukraine, and Syria were all conflicts where he was sure that NATO wouldn't step in.

I doubt Putin's going to go to war with Turkey because Turkey is part of NATO and he's involved in Syria right now. What Putin is doing is painting himself as the good guy and as a saner alternative to the US. Obviously people with half a brain wouldn't want a world dominated by Russia but that is what Putin wants people to wish for.

Nico,
Your point is well taken.

Usually Putin is able to pull off the dominant role in any situation. It does not look good on him to be standing on the sidelines complaining about how Obama is getting away with murder.

It makes Putin look subservient, and he would not want to look subservient to a pussy like Obama.

On the other hand, everything you write above is true.
