Fiorina: Islam Was "The Greatest Civilization in The World"

Carly Fiorina - Whore of the Caliphate?

Well, there you go. I liked Carly Fiorina for about 12 hours.

I should have known better.

From Freedom Outpost:
Lots of people are losing their minds over Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, but apart from her terrible record at Hewlett Packard, the 60-year-old seems to believe the Islamic Ottoman Empire civilization was the greatest in the world.
Americans, and people in general, often have short memories. This is why it is important to remind people of those who are asking for your vote. While the majority of Democrats at the federal level are not worth mentioning simply because they are so far from being worthwhile candidates, those that claim they love the Constitution and America under the Republican banner should warrant extra scrutiny. Fiorina is one of these candidates.
In a speech that was given a mere two weeks after Islamic jihadists attacked America, the former HP chief executive officer gave a speech on technology, business and our way of life. She concluded her speech with the following:
There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world.
It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climes to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins. One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world, the bridge between the peoples of a hundred lands. Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities, and its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known. The reach of this civilization's commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between.
And this civilization was driven more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body, and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration.
Its writers created thousands of stories. Stories of courage, romance and magic. Its poets wrote of love, when others before them were too steeped in fear to think of such things. When other nations were afraid of ideas, this civilization thrived on them, and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive, and passed it on to others.
While modern Western civilization shares many of these traits, the civilization I'm talking about was the Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent.
Although we are often unaware of our indebtedness to this other civilization, its gifts are very much a part of our heritage. The technology industry would not exist without the contributions of Arab mathematicians. Sufi poet-philosophers like Rumi challenged our notions of self and truth. Leaders like Suleiman contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership.
Though Fiorina did acknowledge Christianity and Judaism in culture, she did not call them "a civilization that was the greatest in the world." She failed to recognize the long track record of Islam and its culture in the Middle East. In fact, understanding that we are a Christian nation, one would think that she would reference the rich heritage of Europe or even our early founding, but instead, two weeks after Islamists attacked America, she decided to praise the culture that spawned them.
Not only that, but she apparently has bought into the lie that it was Islam was very important with regards to mathematics. Nothing could be further from the truth.
GO READ THE WHOLE THING.

The Great Civilization was fueled by Greatest Generation. This civilization had just won a World War, was the only major power whose homeland was not in shambles, and the only power with a deliverable atomic weapon. This civilization could have taken over the entire world, but elected instead to rebuild it.

No thirst for conquest. Just a desire to live in peace as much as it were up to us. The only conquest most our boys wanted was to take home their new lady friends who fell in love with their American G.I. heroes. Family was the only thing they really wanted after the war was over.

Contrast that with Islam's continual blood lust and Communism/Socialism moral nihilism and you will see what was the Great Civilization. Then you will understand why the world needs a strong and moral America and will greatly miss us when we decline because we lacked decent leadership during the past 25 years.

I'd love to like or love Fiorina.

But she did not mention what you mentioned here.

She was too busy tongue-slathering the asses of Muslims 15 days after 9/11.

My post was not a pro Carly post. The fact is no Civilization has rivaled the Judeo Christian West.

I understood your point. I was just adding my agreement. I agree with you, absolutely.

This article sealed it for me on Carly.

Dumb article. An intelligent person would understand what she was saying vs what someone thinks or is inferring that she said. Carly is correct, in the time period, Islam did have the greatest civilization. She didn't say "greatest of all time". This is a fine example of what is wrong with political reporting/editorials.

Ms. Fiorina said it was the greatest civilization of its time, which was during the Dark Ages, say 900-1100. There were two centers of civilization (philosophy, arts, science, universities) -- Baghdad and Granada or Al-Adalus, which was southern Spain. The Umayyad Empire stretched around the Mediterranean Sea and into the Arabian Peninsula. It was one of the world's great civilizations, along with the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and British. The United States is the greatest country ever, but Empires is a different classification.

I appreciate these comments coming in. But Fiorina did not clarify these points you are making. She also did not enumerate the list of accomplishments of "Islamic civilization" during it's "Golden Age" and clarify that these "contributions" were mostly archival in nature, meaning that Muslims created a library for reference and that that library was mostly Greek and Roman and the archives of past great civilizations, and that most of the "contributions" of Islamic civilization, after that archiving, were done either by 1) non-Muslims who lived in the Islamic empire, or 2) non-believing individuals who happened to be born into a Muslim family.

In short, Islam had almost nothing to do with the success, only with the violence that got them to that pinnacle. Islam can be credited with preserving the archives of the past ciilivzaion (as opposed to destroying everything which is what Muslims do nowadays), but it got those archives through violence, and it in essence stole them; they were the booty of war.

I'm not a history major, but I think the people who she gives credit to were Greeks & Romans and others who lived in that part of the world prior to Islam. I don't know of anything great that came from the followers of Muhammad. Just murderer, slavery and hell upon anyone caught in it.
